Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aiden McIlvey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Page Rippey!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McIlvey checks the leg kick nicely there.

Rippey fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McIlvey sprawls well initially but Rippey persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Rippey is trying to work for a kimura but McIlvey is defending well.

Rippey is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

McIlvey looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Rippey works his foot free and advances to mount.
McIlvey tries to hold on but Rippey postures up.

Rippey looking for a guillotine from mount but McIlvey is having none of it.
McIlvey is squirming around, avoiding Rippey's attempts to control the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rippey might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control McIlvey haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Rippey lands with some vicious ground and pound - can McIlvey hang on?
McIlvey is trying to escape the mount.
Rippey avoids the attempt from McIlvey to control.
McIlvey is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rippey is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

McIlvey tries to hold on but Rippey pushes him away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Rippey is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McIlvey to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McIlvey shrugs it off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rippey putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!

Rippey is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. McIlvey is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. McIlvey flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Rippey anticipates the leg and manages to get behind McIlvey and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Rippey slips an arm under McIlvey chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Rippey has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Rippey is squeezing on McIlvey like an anaconda would it's prey. McIlvey fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Page Rippey!
After winning the bout, Page Rippey thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
