Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Byron Danielson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Danielson comes to the cage accompanied by The Final Countdown. Byron Danielson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Byron Danielson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nick Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Danielson blocks a head kick by Diaz.
Danielson throws a head kick that misses.
Danielson slaps away a takedown attempt from Diaz, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Danielson circles away from the clinch attempt

and Danielson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Danielson.
Danielson tries to pull guard but Diaz won't allow it.
Diaz softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Diaz creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Diaz slows down the pace here.
Danielson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Diaz is defending well.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Diaz struggles to land a body shot inside as Danielson controls his hands.
Diaz lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Danielson or not.

Diaz is looking to break free of the clinch but Danielson has double underhooks.
Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Danielson walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Byron Danielson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Diaz.
Danielson thuds his shin into the meat of Diaz's side.

Danielson gets tackled into the cage by Diaz. Diaz maintains the clinch.

Danielson drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Diaz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Diaz wants to break free but Danielson has control.

Diaz lands with a short punch from the clinch.

The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
Danielson has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Danielson wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Diaz has him pressed against the cage.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Diaz takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Diaz keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Danielson's efforts to push away.

Danielson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Diaz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Danielson did well to prevent Diaz getting side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Danielson tries to roll over but Diaz keeps him under control.

Danielson drives through with a takedown into Diaz's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Diaz is refusing to be controlled, as Danielson sits in half guard.

Danielson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Diaz with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Danielson is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Diaz sees it coming and defends easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz is breathing heavily.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Danielson lands a nice short elbow.
Diaz has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Danielson is working away from the top position though.
Danielson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Diaz keeps working.

Danielson scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Diaz tries to get to full guard but Danielson has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Danielson is looking to pass Diaz's guard but actually Diaz recovers to full guard.
Danielson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Danielson stands and throws Diaz's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Danielson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Diaz has escaped the position, nice work there.
Diaz wants to control but Danielson postures up.

Danielson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Diaz down.

Danielson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Diaz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Danielson connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Diaz some visible discomfort.
Diaz tries to buck Danielson off but Danielson is having none of it.
Diaz is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Byron Danielson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Diaz is trying to control Danielson's posture but Danielson avoids it.
Danielson works to advance to full mount. Diaz defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Diaz wants to hold on but Danielson pushes him away.
The referee warns Diaz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
You get the feeling that Diaz really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Danielson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Danielson goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Diaz is on top in guard.
Diaz is looking to advance position but Danielson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Danielson cracks Diaz with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Danielson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danielson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Danielson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
