The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freeman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jones was well out of range. Poor timing from Freeman.
Freeman pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Nice shot lands for Jones.

Freeman throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Jones counters with a big head kick but Freeman shrugs it off.

Freeman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Freeman trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Freeman is one step ahead there.

Freeman tries to bum rush Jones with a series of wild strikes but Jones uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jones dives in and grabs Freeman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Freeman pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Freeman avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jones.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Freeman keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Freeman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Freeman scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jones in his tracks.

Freeman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jones moves away.
Jones takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Jones defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Freeman.
Freeman uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Freeman takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jones throws a head kick but Freeman moves out of range.

Freeman lands a nice shot that snaps Jones's head back.

Freeman feints and then cracks Jones's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Jones down.

Freeman shoots in and gets a takedown into Jones's guard.
Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Freeman makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Freeman lands a couple of elbows.
Jones trying to control the position.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Freeman is landing with some decent strikes but Jones is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Freeman unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Jones wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Freeman celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
