Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirk Friezen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phoenix comes to the cage accompanied by Miami. Friezen is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Superstar-Saliva. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Friezen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Phoenix as he avoids it easily.
Phoenix lands with a nice combination. Friezen backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Kirk Friezen has been cut.
Phoenix scores with a body shot.
Phoenix throws a leg kick which misses Friezen's front leg but catches the back leg as Friezen tries to avoid it.
Friezen fails with the takedown
and Phoenix counters with a head kick.
Kirk Friezen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Friezen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Phoenix wants to improve his position but Friezen is controlling well.

Simon Phoenix has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kirk Friezen.
Friezen shoots in for a takedown but Phoenix shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Friezen shoots for a takedown but Phoenix saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Phoenix lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Phoenix lets loose with a powerful body kick. Friezen will feel that in the morning.
Friezen is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Phoenix gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Phoenix connects with a knee to the head.

Phoenix escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Phoenix feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Friezen's calf.
Phoenix lets loose with a powerful body kick. Friezen will feel that in the morning.

Phoenix is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Friezen's half guard.
Phoenix tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Friezen.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Phoenix slows the pace down in half guard.
Phoenix's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Kirk Friezen's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Friezen shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Phoenix as he jumps to the side.
Phoenix lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Friezen on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Phoenix. Phoenix obviously looking to wear him down.
Friezen shoots for a takedown but Phoenix saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nice uppercut there from Phoenix.
An inside leg kick lands from Phoenix.

Phoenix lands a big head kick that sends Friezen tumbling to the mat! Phoenix takes a step backwards and waves Friezen back to his feet - he wants the finish!


Friezen is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Phoenix delivers a nice body kick.
Friezen is still on wobbly legs! Can Phoenix finish him?
Friezen is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Phoenix Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Friezen is out cold, face down on the mat!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Simon Phoenix!
Simon Phoenix tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
