The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Frenandez gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kowalski counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Frenandez breaks from the clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kowalski.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Frenandez breaks the clinch.
Frenandez wants to clinch but Kowalski slips to the side
and Kowalski counters with a takedown into side control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Frenandez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kowalski throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Kowalski misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kowalski is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Frenandez is trying to escape and Kowalski transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Frenandez is forced to tap! Nice work there by Kowalski! Very nice indeed!
