PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Silas Manchester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz has chosen power as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Silas Manchester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mike Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Manchester throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Manchester has closed the distance and engaged Diaz in a clinch.
Manchester with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Manchester is trying to stall.

Diaz is trying to trip Manchester. He has hold of a leg but Manchester is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Diaz persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Diaz trying to control the position from guard on top but Manchester is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Diaz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Diaz closes the distance and clinches up with Manchester, looking for a takedown. Diaz pushes Manchester against the cage but Manchester circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Diaz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Manchester is fending him off so far but Diaz persists. Nope, Manchester circles away and we're back to standing.
Silas Manchester seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Manchester shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Diaz as he avoids it easily.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Manchester as he jumps to the side.
Silas Manchester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mike Diaz.
Manchester fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Diaz is out of range.
Diaz fails with a takedown attempt.

Manchester clinches up with Diaz and pushes him back against the cage.

Manchester pulls guard effortlessly.
Manchester controls Diaz momentarily but Diaz frees himself.
Manchester keeping moving, preventing Diaz from controlling successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Manchester preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Manchester can't keep his opponent in guard - Diaz advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Diaz wants to free his trapped foot but Manchester is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Diaz is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Diaz wants to control but Manchester is keeping him busy.
Diaz passes the guard and advances to mount!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Manchester tries to get back to half guard but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Diaz is landing with some decent strikes but Manchester is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Diaz scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Diaz with the ground and pound from mount.
Manchester wants to control but Diaz is having none of it.
BOOM! Diaz connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Diaz avoids the attempt from Manchester to control.
Diaz landing punches.
Diaz controlling from mount.
Manchester really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Diaz goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Manchester turns into him and now he's in Diaz's guard.
Manchester looking to sit in guard and control but Diaz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Manchester is trying to control the position but Diaz postures up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diaz wants to control from the top but Manchester keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Diaz dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Diaz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Manchester sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Manchester fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Manchester, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Manchester fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Silas Manchester. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Manchester shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Diaz eats them both and turns towards Manchester to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Horrible takedown by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by Manchester which made him look bad.

Manchester defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Diaz.
Manchester displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Diaz.
Manchester tries for a takedown but Diaz circles away easily

and Diaz counters with a single leg into guard. Manchester didn't expect that.
Diaz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Manchester is trying to control the position but Diaz postures up.
Manchester knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Diaz on the ground.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Diaz's corner is telling him to maintain position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Manchester is pulling down on Diaz's head. It's preventing any offense from Diaz, at least for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Silas Manchester.
Manchester gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Diaz counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Diaz.

Diaz manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Diaz looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Manchester is defending well. Diaz quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Manchester has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Diaz celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Mike Diaz!
A pretty intense looking Mike Diaz took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
