Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Austin Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ba Lil I!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lil I misses with a jab to the body

and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Lil I's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Williams throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Lil I works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Williams slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Williams tries to free his leg and advance position but Lil I is retaining full guard.
Williams stays in close to Lil I's body and controls the position.
Lil I is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Austin Williams.

and Lil I counters with a single leg into guard. Williams didn't expect that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close round but I would say that Austin Williams will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Lil I shoots for a double leg takedown but Williams sprawls well. He's pushed Lil I's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Lil I working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Williams doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Williams manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lil I throws an elbow that misses. Williams uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lil I's guard. Nice move by Williams!

Lil I has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Williams can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Williams postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lil I is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Williams, into his guard.

Williams is pulling down on Lil I's head. It's preventing any offense from Lil I, at least for the moment.

Williams is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Lil I has his hands clasped together but Williams extends an breaks Lil I's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Williams.
