PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Enos Erikson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marduk Thorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Thorn has chosen Rob Dougan - Clubbed to Death as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Marduk Thorn will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Enos Erikson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marduk Thorn!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Erikson blocks a head kick by Thorn.
Thorn slaps away a takedown attempt from Erikson, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Erikson tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Enos Erikson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Thorn misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

and Thorn counters with a good low kick that Erikson was not able to check.
Nice sprawl there from Thorn as Erikson shoots in.
Erikson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thorn as he jumps to the side.

Erikson throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Thorn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Erikson is in Thorn's guard.

Thorn is refusing to be controlled, as Erikson sits in half guard.
Erikson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Thorn gets back to full guard.
Thorn is looking to stand up but Erikson isn't so interested in that idea.

Erikson isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Thorn stacks Erikson on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Thorn!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Thorn decides to stand back up. Thorn steps back and let's Erikson get back to his feet.

Thorn throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Erikson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Thorn sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Erikson somewhat.
Erikson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Thorn as he avoids it easily.
Erikson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Thorn circles away.

Erikson closes the distance and clinches up with Thorn, looking for a takedown. Erikson pushes Thorn against the cage but Thorn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Erikson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thorn but Thorn pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Erikson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Thorn napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Thorn seems a little lost for a moment, as Erikson dominates the positioning.
Thorn is pushing Erikson's head away, looking to escape. Erikson manages to hold on to the position though.
Thorn parries the strikes from Erikson easily there. Erikson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Thorn to escape.
Thorn takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Thorn is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Erikson asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Erikson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
