Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eddie Choy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Penn!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Choy fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Choy drives through with a takedown into guard.
Choy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Penn swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Choy throwing strikes from guard but Penn blocks nicely.
Penn keeping full guard, as Choy tries to pass.
Penn lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Choy!
Choy is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Penn looking to control and managing it successfully.

Choy is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Penn wants to control but Choy has made it back to half guard. Nice work.
Penn scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Choy is trying to get back to full guard.
Choy is refusing to be controlled, as Penn sits in half guard.

Choy looking for submissions off his back.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Choy tries to get to full guard but Penn has control of the leg.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Penn closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Penn lands in his opponent's guard.

Choy is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Penn is looking to control Choy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Penn avoid being mounted?

Penn looking for a kimura from the bottom but Choy passes into side control!
Penn looks gassed!

Choy is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Penn is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Choy wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penn, who protects the arm well.

Penn looks to move to half guard but instead Choy has passed into mount! Damn!
Choy moves to back control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Choy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Penn counters with a shoot takedown. Choy fights it but they end up in guard.
Choy will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Choy keeping moving, preventing Penn from controlling successfully.

Penn stands up from Choy's guard - Penn perhaps looking for a knockout.

and Choy counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Choy is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Choy looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Choy is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Penn wants to control but Choy is keeping busy.
Penn won't allow Choy to pass to mount.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Choy is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Choy to get the leverage.

Choy is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Penn has managed to free his arm - good work.
Eddie Choy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Choy passes to side control.
Penn is trying to improve his position.
Penn struggling a bit here.
Choy tries to advance to mount but can't.

Choy thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
You can see the frustration on Penn's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Penn is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Choy's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Choy! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Penn has tapped! This one is allllll over!
