PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mikael Samoth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Turk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Samoth's entrance music is Judas Priest - Painkiller. A fine choice. Johnny Turk told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Samoth rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Turk moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Samoth tried to score with a low kick but Turk checks it.

It looks like Johnny Turk has been cut.
Turk throws an off balance right hand
and Samoth counters with a nice leg kick.
Turk avoids a kick to the body.
Samoth just misses with a punch to the body.
Samoth defending well as Turk loads up on a big left hand.
A solid leg kick lands there for Samoth.
Samoth tries to close the distance and clinch but Turk swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Samoth fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Turk, pushing him back against the cage.

Turk breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Samoth. Turk shrugs it off though.

Samoth fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Turk manages to avoid it.
Turk takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Turk throws a head kick that misses
and Samoth counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Turk needs to keep his hands up - Samoth had a free shot at his head there.
Turk takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Samoth with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Samoth stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oh, that's a big right hand from Turk and Samoth goes tumbling to the canvas! Turk follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Samoth moves in looking to clinch but Turk pushes him off.
Turk doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Turk slaps away a takedown attempt from Samoth, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Turk throws a shot from downtown. Samoth moves away and avoids it.
Samoth displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Turk throws out the jab.
Samoth shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Turk as he jumps to the side.

Samoth manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Turk on his heels. He'll look to pass Turk's guard now, I'm sure.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Samoth accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Samoth with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Turk to score with a decent uppercut.

Samoth pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Turk throws a series of punches but Samoth avoids them all with ease.
Turk misses with a low kick as Samoth jumps back.
Samoth dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Turk. That did some damage!
Turk lands a really nice looking cross but Samoth seems unphased.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Turk might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Turk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Samoth.
