And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jerzy Lisiewicz!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woods throws the left hand but Lisiewicz avoids the punch easily.
Lisiewicz shoots in looking for a takedown. Woods tries to sprawl out of it but Lisiewicz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Woods manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Woods fails in his attempt to clinch.
Lisiewicz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Woods sprawls well. Woods wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Lisiewicz gets slowly back to his feet.

Lisiewicz wants to take a breather but Woods manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Lisiewicz.

Lisiewicz wants to free his trapped foot but Woods is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lisiewicz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Woods is just riding it out for now. Lisiewicz eventually gives up the hold.
Woods is staying active underneath Lisiewicz, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Lisiewicz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Woods.
Lisiewicz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Woods stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Woods wants it to stay on the feet.

Lisiewicz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Lisiewicz goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Woods turns into him and now he's in Lisiewicz's guard.

Lisiewicz escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Woods gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Lisiewicz manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lisiewicz closes the distance and clinches up with Woods, looking for a takedown. Lisiewicz pushes Woods against the cage but Woods circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Woods displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Lisiewicz.
Lisiewicz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Woods pinned against the cage. Woods gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Lisiewicz is still on wobbly legs! Can Woods finish him?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Woods throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lisiewiczs head.
Woods throws a big uppercut that drops Lisiewicz! More strikes from Woods and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Lisiewicz lies dazed against the cage as Woods celebrates with his cornermen!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carl Woods!
Carl Woods retains his welterweight title!
A relieved looking Carl Woods thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
