Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Rad (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Goldman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rad comes to the cage accompanied by Liberation Frequency. Tony Goldman has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kyle Rad!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tony Goldman!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Goldman on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Goldman tries to move into range but Rad moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Rad stuffs the takedown attempt from Goldman. Goldman gets slowly back to his feet.

Rad fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Goldman, pushing him back against the cage.
Goldman fails to pull guard.
Kyle Rad has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Goldman.

Rad successfully pulls guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Goldman wants to control from the top but Rad keeps moving.
Rad is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Goldman shoots in looking for a takedown but Rad manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Goldman's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rad tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Goldman paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rad scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Rad defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Goldman.

Rad drops Goldman with a nice combination! Rad dives into Goldman's guard, looking to finish!


Goldman is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rad throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Goldman is still in real trouble! Can Rad finish him?
Rad throwing strikes but missing.
Rad postures up in Goldman's guard and throws a big left but Goldman blocks it.
Rad wants to control from the top but Goldman keeps moving.

Rad drops back, looking for a kneebar! Goldman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Goldman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Goldman!

Goldman goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Rad has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Goldman but great work by Rad.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rad swings around for an armbar but Goldman sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Rad's guard.

Kyle Rad dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Rad stuffs the takedown attempt from Goldman. Goldman gets slowly back to his feet.

Rad lands a nice leg kick that just misses Goldman's sensitive parts.
Rad tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Goldman dives in and grabs Rad's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rad pushes down on Goldman's head and hops out.
Rad feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Goldman's calf.
Kyle Rad seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rad wants to clinch up but Goldman keeps it at a distance.
Goldman shoots in but no luck this time.

Goldman dives in and grabs Rad's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rad pushes down on Goldman's head and hops out.

Goldman is trying desperately to land a takedown but Rad is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Goldman.

Rad throws an elbow but it misses.

Goldman is working Rad over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

You can see the frustration on Rad's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Rad tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Goldman wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The ground and pound from Goldman seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Rad gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Goldman wants to work for an arm triangle but Rad is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Rad won't allow Goldman to pass to mount.

Goldman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rad is just riding it out for now. Goldman eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close round but Kyle Rad did the better work so I'd imagine he'll take it.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Goldman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Rad smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Rad lands with a straight right. Goldman didn't see that one coming.
Goldman tries for a takedown but Rad circles away easily
and Rad counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Rad leaves Goldman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Rad waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Goldman. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Goldman to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Goldman is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.

Goldman has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Rad is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Goldman.

Goldman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Rad manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Goldman has Rad in his guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kyle Rad.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rad, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
