Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shooto Boxman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and da Prodigy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shooto Boxman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, da Prodigy!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Eddie Farnsworth and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Prodigy enables Boxman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Prodigy manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Prodigy looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Boxman looking to pass the guard.

Prodigy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Boxman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Boxman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Boxman wants to control from the top but Prodigy keeps moving.
Boxman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Boxman tries to free his leg and advance position but Prodigy is retaining full guard.

Boxman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Prodigy is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Boxman, into his guard.

Prodigy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Boxman is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Boxman looking for a sweep. Not yet Boxman, not yet.

Prodigy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boxman looking to hit a scissor sweep but Prodigy is one step ahead there.
Boxman is trying to control the position but Prodigy postures up.

Prodigy won't allow Boxman to sweep him here.

Boxman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Prodigy's guard.
Prodigy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Prodigy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Boxman pushes down on Prodigy's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boxman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Prodigy keeps working.

Boxman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Prodigy is just riding it out for now. Boxman eventually gives up the hold.

Prodigy looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boxman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Boxman wants to advance to full mount but Prodigy doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Prodigy has his foot on Boxman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Boxman works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but da Prodigy will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Prodigy swats away the attempt to clinch by Boxman.
The crowd cheers as Boxman lands an impressive looking overhand right. Prodigy doesn't seem phased though.
Boxman doesn't manage to clinch there - Prodigy circles away.

Boxman shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Prodigy is not content to let Boxman control the position.

Boxman is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Prodigy sees it coming and defends easily.

Prodigy is working on a guillotine. He's managed to get to full guard and he's really squeezing tight! Boxman is tapping! Great win for Prodigy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). da Prodigy!
