PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Rameraz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying McBride's choice of entrance music: Kick start my heart. Paul McBride will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul McBride!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McBride lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
McBride lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
McBride tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rameraz manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McBride moves in looking to clinch but Rameraz pushes him off.
McBride throws a right and a left that both miss.

McBride closes the distance and clinches.
Rameraz lands with a left to the head.
Rameraz has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. McBride avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
McBride wants to take the fight to the mat but Rameraz manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Rameraz is trying to push McBride away but McBride has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Rameraz wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McBride has him pressed against the cage.
Rameraz is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables McBride to keep the fight standing.

Rameraz shoots for a double leg takedown but McBride sprawls well. He's pushed Rameraz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Rameraz looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McBride is fending him off so far but Rameraz persists. Nope, McBride circles away and we're back to standing.

and McBride holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
McBride has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Rameraz after a bit of a struggle.

Rameraz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Rameraz pushes McBride off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Paul McBride seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McBride scores with a one two! Rameraz had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

McBride closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McBride tries to stall but Rameraz uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

McBride gets underhooks to prevent Rameraz's takedown attempt.

McBride is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Rameraz can't fight it off and eventually McBride manages to take the fight to the floor. Rameraz looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
McBride keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

McBride is looking to work some ground and pound but Rameraz has wrist control.

Paul McBride showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McBride stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rameraz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
McBride postures up in Rameraz's guard and throws a big left but Rameraz blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McBride wants to control from the top but Rameraz keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Paul McBride was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Paul McBride comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McBride has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
