Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kogata Munoz!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gaspar Gomez!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Chris Edwards and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez moves out of range of the strikes.

Munoz feints and as Gomez raises his hands in defense, Munoz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Munoz preventing the sweep.
Munoz looking to sit in guard and control but Gomez gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Gomez wants to pass the guard but Munoz is keeping the position.
Munoz is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gomez throws a big elbow that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gomez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Gaspar Gomez was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Munoz takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Gomez goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Munoz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gomez thumps Munoz with a low kick.
Munoz looks for the body kick but Gomez saw that one coming.
Munoz throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gomez's waist but Gomez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Munoz off to one side.

Munoz drives through with a takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Munoz stopping the sweep attempt from Gomez.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Munoz wants to pass the guard but Gomez is keeping the position.
Gomez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Munoz slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Munoz moves into full mount!
Munoz punishing his opponent with strikes.

Gomez wants to hold on but Munoz pushes him away.
Gomez is squirming around, avoiding Munoz's attempts to control the action.
Gomez tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gomez is hanging on here. He's in a desperate position.

Munoz is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Gomez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Gomez shrugs it off.
Gomez is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Munoz lands a couple of good shots and Gomez has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
Gomez trying to control the position but Munoz manages to sink in the hooks.
Gomez is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Munoz throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Gomez!


Gomez is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Munoz.
Gomez is still in real trouble! Can Munoz finish him?
Munoz lands strikes from the back and Gomez isn't doing enough to escape the position. The referee steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kogata Munoz!
Kogata Munoz retains his lightweight title!
During a confident post fight interview, Kogata Munoz thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
