The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mtagwa lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
A slow jab from Mtagwa misses its intended target.
Mtagwa cracks Irons with a right hand to the side of the head.


Irons is rocked!


It looks like John Henry Irons has been cut.
Mtagwa misses with a straight left.
Irons is still on wobbly legs! Can Mtagwa finish him?
Mtagwa waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Irons.
Irons seems to have recovered his senses.
Mtagwa throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Irons sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Irons shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Mtagwa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Mtagwa throws a right and a left that Irons avoids nicely.
Irons shoots in but no luck this time.

Mtagwa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Irons moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Mtagwa manages to escape and get back to his feet.

Irons shoots in for a takedown but Mtagwa shows good takedown defense.
Mtagwa looks to land a right hand but Irons moved out of range.
Irons shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mtagwa as he avoids it easily.
Mtagwa lands a body shot.
Irons takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Irons looks gassed!
Irons fails with a takedown attempt.
Mtagwa scores with a jab. Irons acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Mtagwa looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mtagwa misses with a looping right.
Irons shoots in looking for a takedown. Mtagwa tries to sprawl out of it but Irons keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mtagwa manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lee Mtagwa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A left lands for Mtagwa.
Mtagwa lunges at Irons with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Irons's hand.
Mtagwa jabs Irons right on the nose. Irons blinks but takes it well.
Irons on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Irons defending well as Mtagwa loads up on a big left hand.
Mtagwa looks to score with a jab to the body but Irons is just out of range.
Mtagwa swinging wilding here.
Irons keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Mtagwa.
Nice sprawl there from Mtagwa as Irons shoots in.
Mtagwa stuffs the takedown.
Irons wants to clinch up but Mtagwa keeps it at a distance.

Irons keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Irons with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Mtagwa to score with a decent uppercut.
Mtagwa throws the left hand but Irons avoids the punch easily.
Irons shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mtagwa pinned against the cage. Mtagwa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mtagwa lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Irons fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Mtagwa throws a right and a left that both miss.
Irons shoots for a takedown but Mtagwa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Irons slips a jab from Mtagwa.
Irons shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mtagwa as he avoids it easily.
Mtagwa scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Mtagwa rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Irons moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Irons tries to clinch there but Mtagwa circles away.

Irons shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mtagwa's guard.
Mtagwa wants to sweep but no luck.
Irons throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mtagwa works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Irons looking to sit in guard and control but Mtagwa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mtagwa won't allow Irons to sweep him here.

Mtagwa wants to control from the top but Irons keeps moving.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Irons trying to strike off his back.
Irons is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mtagwa misses with a hook.
Mtagwa throws a big shot that misses.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mtagwa avoids a kick to the body.
Mtagwa throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Irons tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Mtagwa swivels and escapes.
Mtagwa misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mtagwa ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lee Mtagwa is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Mtagwa misses with a few strikes there.
Mtagwa clobbers Irons with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Mtagwa fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Irons on the side of the head.
Mtagwa looks to land a combination but Irons avoids it well.
Lee Mtagwa is winning the standup battle so far.

Irons shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Irons forces the positional change into back control.

Irons patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?

Irons keeps control of the position as Mtagwa tries to break free.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Irons's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Irons really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Mtagwa.
Irons is not going to allow Mtagwa to sit and survive in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Irons missing with strikes from the back.

Irons has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Mtagwa! Can he survive? No! He's out! Irons gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). John Henry Irons!
