Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Vallely (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesus Nava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vallely's entrance music is CKY - 96 Quite Bitter Beings. A fine choice. Jesus Nava has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Vallely!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jesus Nava!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vallely jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nava misses with a two punch combination.
Nava tries a head kick but it misses.
Vallely fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Vallely changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Nava looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Vallely wants to take a breather but Nava manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Vallely.
Vallely is stalling in the full guard.
Vallely working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Vallely preventing the sweep.
Vallely is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Vallely is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Nava wants to sweep here but Vallely controlling him for the moment.

Nava looking for a sweep. Not yet Nava, not yet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Vallely accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Vallely stands up from Nava's guard - Vallely perhaps looking for a knockout.
Vallely throws a body punch but Nava moves out of range.

Vallely ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Vallely throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nava sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nava moves into range and connects with a jab.

Vallely shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Nava wants to sweep but no luck.
Nava controls Vallely momentarily but Vallely frees himself.
Nava working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Vallely.
Vallely wants to control from the top but Nava keeps moving.
Nava utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Vallely trying to control the position from guard on top but Nava is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Vallely seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Mike Vallely.
Nava shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Nava lands a nice hook to Vallely's body. Vallely takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Vallely throws the kick towards the body but Nava avoids it.
Nava throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Vallely counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Vallely scores with a body shot.
Vallely bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Nava's head backwards.

Vallely shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Vallely pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nava is keeping the position for now.
Vallely throwing strikes but missing.
Vallely throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Nava works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Vallely looking to sit in guard and control but Nava gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Nava stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vallely swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vallely bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nava's guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vallely content to stall in guard here.
Vallely missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mike Vallely dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Vallely misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nava just misses with a punch to the body.
Vallely bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Vallely moves out of range of the strikes.
A jab lands there for Nava.

Vallely shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

The fighters circling - Vallely throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Nava throws a series of punches but Vallely moves out of range.
Vallely throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Nava sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Vallely throws a series of strikes that have Nava backpedaling.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters circling - Nava throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Vallely punishes Nava's body with a nice straight punch.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Nava, as that shot connected.
Nava misses with a hook
and Nava takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nava misses the jab.
Nava avoids the body shot from Vallely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vallely changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Nava tries to avoid it but Vallely manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Nava to the ground. Nava escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Vallely lands an overhand right.
Vallely swings for the body but Nava moves out of range.
Jesus Nava seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nava swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Vallely counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Nava avoids the head kick by Vallely.
Nava lands with an uppercut that bounces Vallely off the cage and back into range.

Vallely decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Vallely wants to take a breather but Nava is having none of it.
Vallely thows a huge punch but Nava dodges it nicely.
Well, if Vallely is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Vallely looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nava with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Nava is looking for a sweep. Vallely is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Vallely controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Mike Vallely wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Vallely misses with a straight right.
Vallely scores with a shot to the body.
The crowd cheers as Nava lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vallely doesn't seem phased though.
No joy there for Nava, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nava misses with a two punch combination.
Nava throws a right and a left that both miss.

Nava throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nava avoids the head kick by Vallely.
Nava needs to keep his hands up - Vallely had a free shot at his head there.
Nava ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vallely moves away.
Jesus Nava seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Vallely misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nava.
Nava lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nava throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Vallely sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nava drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Vallely jabs Nava right on the nose. Nava blinks but takes it well.
Vallely lands the left hand.
Vallely keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Vallely moves out of range of the strikes.
Nava looks to land a combination but Vallely avoids it well.
Nava throws a right and a left that Vallely avoids nicely.
Nava misses with a looping left.

Vallely feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Vallely chips away with some ground and pound.

Vallely postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Nava is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Vallely, into his guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Nava keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Nava stuffs the takedown.
Nava takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Nava throws a shot from downtown. Vallely moves away and avoids it.
Nava misses with a hook. Vallely ducked under it nicely.
Vallely takes one to the side of the head.
A telegraphed right hand from Vallely misses the target.
Nava ducks under a wild hook from Vallely.
Nava closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Vallely misses with an uppercut.
Nava avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Vallely getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Nava looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Nava waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Vallely.
Vallely jabs at Nava's body.

Vallely looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Vallely throws an elbow that misses. Nava uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vallely's guard. Nice move by Nava!

Vallely is looking for a triangle but Nava pushes his legs off easily.
Vallely manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Nava tries to reverse the position but Vallely maintains control.

Vallely lands a heavy elbow.
Vallely unloading with bombs!


Nava is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vallely lands a big elbow - Nava is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Nava is forced to tap out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Mike Vallely!
Mike Vallely decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
