Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chad Herbstreit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Kennedy!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Herbstreit on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kennedy. Kennedy obviously looking to wear him down.

Kennedy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Herbstreit sprawls well initially but Kennedy persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Kennedy performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Kennedy landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Herbstreit is trying to stand up here but Kennedy is controlling him well.
Kennedy has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kennedy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kennedy seems to be looking for submissions.
Kennedy uses his free foot to push down on Herbstreit's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Herbstreit.

Kennedy can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Herbstreit is looking to escape.
Kennedy is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Kennedy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Herbstreit looks a forlorn figure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Kennedy is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Herbstreit has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Herbstreit is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Kennedy takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Kennedy lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Herbstreit has left one of his arms exposed and Kennedy doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Herbstreit screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
