Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Donald James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chips Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donald James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chips Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcgee shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Mcgee throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as James works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
James looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Mcgee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
James lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Mcgee!

James looking to secure an arm triangle but Mcgee defends it well.
James won't let Mcgee get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

James goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Mcgee is on top in guard.
Mcgee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Mcgee has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of James is proving hard to escape from.

James working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mcgee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mcgee manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

James manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mcgee is trying desperately to improve position.

James is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Mcgee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Mcgee shrugs it off.

James moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Mcgee has worked his arm free - good work by Mcgee!

James wants to control but Mcgee is keeping him busy.

James has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Mcgee connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
Mcgee misses with a series of wild punches.

Mcgee throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. James tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mcgee is in James's guard.

James has his foot on Mcgee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Mcgee works his way back into a safe position though.

Mcgee loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
James is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Donald James will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Sloppy strikes from Mcgee. Those never looked like landing.
Mcgee throws a shot to the body.
James takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Mcgee tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mcgee misses with a head kick.
Mcgee throws a front kick aimed at James's knee but James avoids it well.
James shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcgee defends it nicely.
Mcgee has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mcgee there as he acknowledges the shot.

James gets caught flat footed, as Mcgee shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Mcgee stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and James has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Mcgee manages to get his head free but now James has transitioned to an armbar! Mcgee grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from James! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Donald James!
