PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Wain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Gusmero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wain comes to the cage accompanied by Bring the Noise. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gusmero tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wain was well out of range. Poor timing from Gusmero.
A decent looking cross lands there for Gusmero.
Wain gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Gusmero counters with an inside leg kick.
Gusmero misses with a straight right.
Wain shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Gusmero cracks Wain with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wain is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Nice body punch from Gusmero.
Wain doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Wain takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Wain. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wain misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Gusmero throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wain works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Gusmero controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Gusmero is in close to Wain's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Wain trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Gusmero wants to pass the guard but Wain is keeping the position.

Gusmero stands up over Wain, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gusmero trying to control the position from guard on top but Wain is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Wain has momentary wrist control but Gusmero slips an elbow through the middle.
Wain wants to sweep here but Gusmero controlling him for the moment.
Gusmero is working Wain over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Gusmero stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wain is bucking up trying to escape but Gusmero cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

It looks like John Wain has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gusmero cracks Wain with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Wain is bucking up trying to escape but Gusmero cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gusmero cracks Wain with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
