Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timothy Mcgee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pounder comes to the cage accompanied by People in Planes-Last Man Standing. Mcgee has chosen McGee as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jim Pounder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Timothy Mcgee!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcgee misses the shot to the body.
Mcgee throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Mcgee dives in and grabs Pounder's left leg, looking for a takedown. Pounder pushes down on Mcgee's head and hops out.

Mcgee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pounder's half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Mcgee is working for a kimura but Pounder is defending it quite comfortably.
Mcgee is keen to just control but Pounder is a slippery customer.

Mcgee thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mcgee is looking for submissions but instead, Pounder has regained full guard.

Mcgee is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pounder is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pounder has escaped and now he's on top!

Pounder won't allow Mcgee to get back to his feet.

Mcgee had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Pounder defends it easily.

Pounder stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Mcgee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Pounder catches Mcgee with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Mcgee wants to clinch up but Pounder keeps it at a distance.

and Pounder counters with a series of strikes. Mcgee will be more careful next time no doubt.

Mcgee shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pounder's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Timothy Mcgee wasn't active enough on the ground.
Pounder misses with a lunging right hand
and Mcgee counters with a two punch combo.
Mcgee throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Timothy Mcgee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pounder connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Pounder keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mcgee looks to land a combination. Pounder sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Pounder is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Mcgee.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mcgee is defended easily by Pounder.

Jim Pounder is winning the standup battle so far.
Pounder rushes Mcgee with punches - Mcgee moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Mcgee goes down! Pounder follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Our winner, Jim Pounder, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
