Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marco Smirnov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smirnov closes the distance and clinches up with Swanson, looking for a takedown. Smirnov pushes Swanson against the cage but Swanson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Swanson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smirnov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Swanson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Smirnov scores with a one two! Swanson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Smirnov misses with a takedown
and Swanson counters with a straight right hand.
Smirnov tries to clinch but Swanson is having none of it.
Smirnov shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Smirnov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Swanson leaves Smirnov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Jim Swanson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Swanson counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Smirnov thinking.

Smirnov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Swanson counters with a nice uppercut.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and Swanson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

letting Swanson counter with a right hand.

Swanson ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

and Swanson counters with a left hand that sends Smirnov to the canvas!


Smirnov is rocked!

Swanson drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Swanson seems to have locked his on tight now - Smirnov screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Swanson, as he picks up the win!

After winning the bout, Jim Swanson thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
