PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jiles Lynch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Duck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lynch comes into the arena with Requiem-Mozart blaring out of the sound system. Jiles Lynch had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jiles Lynch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lynch drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Duck wants to get back to his feet.

Lynch is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Duck knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Lynch swings around for an armbar but Duck sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Lynch's guard.

Lynch throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Duck escapes and throws Lynch's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Duck happy to just control the position for now.
Lynch is trying to improve his position.

Lynch tries to buck Duck off but Duck is having none of it.
Lynch is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Duck is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Lynch is breathing heavily.
Duck looking to control but Lynch is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Duck really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lynch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Duck looking to control and managing it successfully.
Duck can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lynch is looking to escape.
Lynch keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Duck tries to control but Lynch wriggling away.

Despite being in the dominant position, Fred Duck just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Duck throws a leg kick but Lynch sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Lynch avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Lynch looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Duck is fending him off so far but Lynch persists. Nope, Duck circles away and we're back to standing.
Duck throws out a loose jab but Lynch uses good head movement to avoid it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Duck swings for the body but Lynch moves out of range.
Lynch avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Duck jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Duck gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lynch drops back, looking for a kneebar! Duck looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Duck looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Duck!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Lynch tries to buck Duck off but Duck is having none of it.
Duck is looking to take a break and control but Lynch is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jiles Lynch will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Lynch looking for a guillotine here but Duck defends easily.
Oh Lynch is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Lynch tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lynch seems to have got his legs back now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Lynch is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lynch wants to improve his position but instead Duck has moved into half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Duck looks to land a right hand but Lynch moved out of range.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Duck throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lynch sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Duck keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Duck connects with a jab.
Lynch shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Duck pinned against the cage. Duck gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Duck throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Lynch throws a strike but Duck rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Duck stands and steps away. Lynch gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Lynch is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Duck is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Duck has escaped and now he's on top!

Fred Duck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Lynch fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Duck swings for the body but Lynch moves out of range.
Lynch moves out of range of the strikes.
Lynch tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Duck swivels and escapes.

Lynch shoots in but Duck avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Duck swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Duck shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Lynch throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Duck's waist but Duck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lynch off to one side.
Lynch looks for a takedown but Duck sprawls well.

Duck works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Lynch shoots in but no luck this time.
Nice takedown defense from Duck. No joy for Lynch on that attempt.
Duck misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lynch.

Lynch drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Lynch pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Duck is keeping the position for now.
Lynch is looking to advance position but Duck has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Duck trying to control but Lynch is having none of it.

Lynch bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Lynch passes Duck's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Duck pushes Lynch off looking to stand but Lynch dives back in and keeps control.

Duck is defending against the submission attempts here by Lynch.

Lynch is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Duck defends it well.

Lynch is working for a submission of some sort.
Lynch wants to free his trapped foot but Duck is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Lynch passes the guard and advances to mount!

And that's the end of the fight!
Fred Duck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Duck has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
