And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ayila Obasi!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Obasi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Nikolaev defends it nicely.
Ayila Obasi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Obasi misses with a takedown
letting Nikolaev counter with a right hand.
Obasi tries for a takedown but Nikolaev sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ivan Nikolaev has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ayila Obasi.
Nikolaev throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Donk. Nikolaev catches Obasi right on the button with a cross.

Nikolaev keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

It looks like Ayila Obasi has been cut.

enabling Nikolaev to counter with a crisp jab.

Nikolaev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Obasi, pushing him back against the cage.
Obasi blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Obasi has Nikolaev pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Nikolaev manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Obasi jumps guard but Nikolaev turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Nikolaev presses Obasi against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Obasi looks winded!
Nikolaev is pressed up against the cage. Obasi has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Nikolaev down to the mat. Nikolaev avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Obasi has his takedown stuffed
and Obasi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Obasi takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivan Nikolaev dominated that round.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Nikolaev's corner calls for a 1-2. Nikolaev obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Nikolaev thows a left - swing and a miss!
Obasi shoots and misses
and Nikolaev counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


Obasi is rocked!
BOOM! Nikolaev lands a beautiful left hook that drops Obasi. Obasi tries to recover but Nikolaev is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Obasi lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ivan Nikolaev!
An out of breath Ivan Nikolaev thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
