PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Fatu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Missa Okami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fatu might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hawaii - Aloha-Oe. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Fatu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Missa Okami!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Jeff Smith and Ryoma Takatsuka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fatu looks to land a body kick but Okami moved away.
Fatu dives in and grabs Okami's left leg, looking for a takedown. Okami pushes down on Fatu's head and hops out.
Fatu tries to clinch up
and Okami connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Fatu tries to clinch but Okami moves out of range.
Fatu shoots in looking for a takedown. Okami tries to sprawl out of it but Fatu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Okami manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Okami uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Fatu has time to react.

Okami moves into range and clinches up with Fatu.

Fatu jumps guard and drags Okami to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Okami got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fatu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Okami has managed to get both his arms back between Fatu's legs - danger averted.
Okami wants to stand but Fatu has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Okami thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Okami is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Fatu doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Okami.

Okami is looking for a kimura but Fatu is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Okami to get the leverage.
Okami uses his free foot to push down on Fatu's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fatu.

Fatu wants to hold on but Okami pushes him away.

Okami is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Fatu can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Okami shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fatu's guard.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fatu shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Okami as he avoids it easily.

Okami gets caught flat footed, as Fatu shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Okami lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Fatu!

Okami swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Fatu is now in Okami's guard. A big mistake from Okami there, giving up the dominant position!
Okami seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Okami tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Fatu drops back looking for a leg! Okami is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Okami manages to kick Fatu off! Fatu jumps back into Okami's guard.
Fatu wants to pass the guard but Okami is keeping the position.

Okami had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fatu defends it easily.

Okami looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Fatu would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Fatu postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Okami fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Fatu, pushing him back against the cage.

Fatu sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Okami's guard.
Fatu slips a nice elbow through Okami's hands, connecting with Okami's forehead.
Okami is looking to escape.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Okami is not content to let Fatu control the position.
Okami pushes Fatu off looking to stand but Fatu dives back in and keeps control.
Okami is breathing heavily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Fatu wants to pass the guard but Okami is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Missa Okami will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Fatu lands a nice leg kick that just misses Okami's sensitive parts.

Fatu has control of Okami's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Okami regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Fatu lands a big shot there that rocks Okami but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Fatu cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

It looks like Missa Okami has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Fatu can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Okami is looking to escape.

That has opened up Missa Okami's cut even more.

Okami is bucking up trying to escape but Fatu cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Missa Okami's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Missa Okami's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ryan Fatu!
Ryan Fatu gave a mention to Fishy Fighting in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
