Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Batts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Sturd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batts comes to the cage accompanied by Pro-pain - Make war (not love) . Sturd has chosen T.I. - Yeah You Know as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Billy Batts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jason Sturd!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sturd throws the left hand but Batts avoids the punch easily.
Sturd tries to clinch but Batts moves out of range.
Batts fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Sturd manages to avoid it.
Sturd buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Batts looks to score with a jab to the body but Sturd is just out of range.

Sturd throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Batts was covering up waiting for the punch and Sturd finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Batts is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sturd trying to control the position from guard on top but Batts is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sturd accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Sturd postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sturd trying to control but Batts is working from the bottom.
Sturd lands a couple of decent looking shots.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Batts has his foot on Sturd's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sturd works his way back into a safe position though.
Sturd engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Sturd wants to control from the top but Batts keeps moving.
Sturd throws a big right hand that misses.
Sturd missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Batts has an active guard here but Sturd has managed to pass into half guard.
Sturd throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Batts is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sturd pulls his head out easily.
Sturd working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Still in half guard, Sturd seems content to control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Batts is in all sorts of trouble here.
Sturd tries to control but Batts wriggling away.
Sturd scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Sturd landing strikes, looking to finish!

Batts can't escape the position.
Sturd lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Batts keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Sturd has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Batts's face.


Batts is rocked!


It looks like Billy Batts has been cut.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sturd is landing with some decent strikes but Batts is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Oh Batts is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Batts can't escape the position.
Batts seems to have got his legs back now.
Sturd cracks Batts with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Batts bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Sturd tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Batts trying to stand up but can't free himself from Sturd's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Batts wants to control from the top but Sturd keeps moving.
Batts wants to stand and escape but instead Sturd has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Batts throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sturd escapes and throws Batts's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Batts on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sturd trying to control the position but Batts is working away.
Batts regains half guard there - taking advantage of Sturd's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Sturd dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Billy Batts's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Sturd fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Batts tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Batts connects with a jab.
Sturd blocks a head kick by Batts.
Sturd keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sturd tries to land a front kick but Batts steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Sturd moves out of range as Batts strikes.

Batts instigates a clinch.
Batts tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Sturd tries to work over Batts's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Sturd breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Batts throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Sturd checks a leg kick.

Sturd tries to keep at a distance but Batts has taken the fight into the clinch.
Batts with an attempt at a knee that misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sturd lands a hook to the side of the head.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Sturd.
Sturd on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Batts tries to land a knee to the head but Sturd blocks with his arms.
Sturd drops down looking for an ankle pick but Batts pulls his leg out and moves away.
Batts swings for the body but Sturd moves out of range.
Jason Sturd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sturd scores with a jab to the jaw.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Batts lands a nice shot that snaps Sturd's head back.
Sturd scores with a sloppy right hand. Batts should have avoided that one.
Batts is looking to wear down Sturd with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

No joy there for Sturd, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

enabling Batts to counter with a crisp jab.

Sturd ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Batts moves away.

Batts lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!


It looks like Jason Sturd has been cut.
Batts tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Sturd avoids it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Batts swings wildly with an uppercut but Sturd uses good head movement to avoid it.
Batts lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jason Sturd will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Batts tries to bum rush Sturd with a series of wild strikes but Sturd uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Sturd throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Batts on the side of the head.
A nice leg kick lands there from Sturd.
Sturd blocks a low kick nicely.
Sturd lands a jab to the head.
Sturd thuds a left hand into Batts's body.
Batts shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Batts scores with a push kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sturd shoots for a double leg takedown but Batts sprawls well. He's pushed Sturd's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sturd shoots in looking for a takedown but Batts manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Sturd's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Sturd, right into the meat.

Batts sizes up Sturd with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Sturd misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Sturd with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Batts is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sturd gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Sturd's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Billy Batts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Sturd connects with a right hand. Batts shakes it off.
Batts does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Batts attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Batts moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Sturd misses with a body shot.
Sturd cracks Batts with an open hand slap.
Sturd scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Sturd keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Sturd on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Batts throws a nice outside leg kick.
Sturd swings for the body but Batts moves out of range.
Sturd connects with a nice looking jab.
Sturd lands a slapping body shot.
Sturd darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Batts displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sturd.
Sturd scores with a leg kick.
Sturd lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Batts stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Sturd.
Sturd takes a swing at Batts's ribcage but misses.
Sturd throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Sturd tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Batts was well out of range. Poor timing from Sturd.
Batts is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Sturd changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Batts tries to avoid it but Sturd manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Batts to the ground. Batts escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Batts throws a shot from downtown. Sturd moves away and avoids it.
Sturd scores with a jab to the body.
Batts misses with a low kick.
Sturd tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sturd throws a low kick, looking for Batts's leg but Batts calmly moves out of range.
Batts bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Sturd's head backwards.

Batts keeps the fight on the outside.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sturd connects with the punch.

A jab from Batts does it's job there.
Batts throws a low kick but Sturd avoids it.
Batts fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sturd looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Sturd closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jason Sturd has got the better of the ground game so far.
Batts is staying active underneath Sturd, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
