Crowder is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Tribute. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Chris Weidman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lateef Crowder!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Felipe Paraventi and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crowder shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Weidman sprawls well. Weidman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Crowder gets slowly back to his feet.
Crowder tries to clinch but Weidman moves out of range.
Crowder misses with a takedown attempt

and Weidman counters with a single leg into guard. Crowder didn't expect that.
Weidman tries to free his leg and advance position but Crowder is retaining full guard.
Weidman's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Weidman trying to control but Crowder is working from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Weidman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Crowder tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Weidman controls from within his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Crowder shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Weidman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Crowder!
Chris Weidman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lateef Crowder.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Weidman trying to control the action but Crowder is working from the bottom.
Weidman looks up at the clock and then as Crowder takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Weidman smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Crowder is rocked!
Weidman cracks Crowder with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Weidman immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Crowder is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Weidman!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Weidman!
Chris Weidman tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
