PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hunter Braxton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hunter Braxton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John White!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Braxton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Braxton keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
White has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Braxton finds it's way round the side to connect with White's head.

White shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Braxton is trying to defend but White finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Braxton is trying to get back to full guard.
Still in half guard, White seems content to control.
Braxton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

White gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Braxton scores with the left hand. White knows he should have avoided that one.
Braxton scores with a hook to the body. White takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Braxton closes the distance looking to clinch

and White counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by White.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Braxton misses with a hook from the clinch.
Braxton fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by White as Braxton tries to tie him up.

White manages to pull guard.
White seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Braxton wants to get up but he can't break White's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Braxton stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Braxton tries for a takedown but White sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
White slips under a jab.
White defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Braxton.
Hunter Braxton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

White looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Braxton is breathing heavily.

Braxton is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. White is aware though and is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
White is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

White gets to his feet. Braxton looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

White bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

White stands up and beckons Braxton to his feet.

White closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
White takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
White lands strikes from half guard.
White not doing much here.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
White prevents Braxton from standing back up.

White is looking for a kimura but Braxton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for White to get the leverage.
Well, if White is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Braxton wants to get back to full guard.
White keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. John White hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
White uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Braxton.

White looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
White content to control rather than advance.
It looks like White might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
White passes to full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John White dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



White shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Braxton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
White sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Braxton is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

White stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Braxton throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around White's waist but White gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Braxton off to one side.
Braxton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Braxton gets caught flat footed, as White shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
White's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
White's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Braxton wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
White is working Braxton over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Braxton can't keep his opponent in guard - White advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

White is trying for a kimura here. Braxton looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! White wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). John White!
