The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A chopping leg kick lands by Lennon.

McCoy instigates a clinch.
Lennon prevents a takedown attempt there.
Lennon lands a knee to the body.

It looks like Jay McCoy has been cut.
With the fighters up against the cage, Lennon throws an elbow but misses.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Lennon throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but McCoy blocks it with crossed arms.

Lennon is looking to control McCoy's arms but McCoy gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lennon has his back to the cage.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Lennon just misses with a elbow thrown towards McCoy's brow.
McCoy blocks an elbow strike from Lennon.

Lennon is fighting off a takedown attempt but McCoy is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lennon to the mat. Lennon regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

McCoy is breathing heavily.
Lennon looking for a sweep. Not yet Lennon, not yet.
McCoy wants to pass the guard but Lennon is keeping the position.

Lennon working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McCoy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McCoy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
McCoy wants to control from the top but Lennon keeps moving.
McCoy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
A telegraphed right hand from McCoy misses the target.
McCoy misses with a wild combination.
McCoy misses with a hook.
McCoy throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lennon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
McCoy swats away the attempt to clinch by Lennon.
McCoy goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lennon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

McCoy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McCoy lands in his opponent's guard.
Lennon is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

McCoy passes Lennon's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McCoy wants to free his trapped foot but Lennon is holding on for dear life with his legs.
McCoy trying to control the action but Lennon is working from the bottom.
Lennon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McCoy lands a nice short elbow.
Lennon is trying to stand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
McCoy is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
McCoy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Lennon looks a forlorn figure.

Lennon is trying to escape the mount but McCoy keeps good control and instead manages to take Lennon's back.

McCoy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Lennon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCoy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McCoy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
McCoy passes Lennon's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
McCoy looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lennon throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McCoy escapes and throws Lennon's legs to the side, diving into side control!
