Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Braulio Maia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Paul Johnson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson shoots in and bounces Maia off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Maia is on top in guard.
Johnson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Maia trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Johnson is trying to control the position but Maia postures up.
Maia trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Johnson wants to sweep here but Maia controlling him for the moment.
Maia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Johnson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Maia looking to control.
Johnson throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Maia could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Maia is trying to keep Johnson in close.
Johnson trying to control but Maia is working from the bottom.
Johnson looks gassed!
Johnson tries to free his leg and advance position but Maia is retaining full guard.
Johnson is pushing down on Maia's leg trying to pass to half guard. Maia is fighting to maintain full guard but Johnson has managed to sneak the leg through.

Johnson is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Maia has managed to free his arm - good work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maia actively working from the bottom here.
Maia trying to control but Johnson postures up.
Maia looks like he's trying to stand up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Maia slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Johnson is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Maia has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Johnson is looking to defend but Maia has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Johnson! Maia pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Johnson taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Braulio Maia!
