The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kabashi moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

It looks like Paul Proteus has been cut.
Kabashi connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.

Proteus moves into range and clinches up with Kabashi.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kabashi looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Kabashi stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Kabashi wants to break the clinch but can't.
Proteus keeps control of Kabashi as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kabashi tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Proteus breaks from the clinch.
A slapping body kick lands there for Proteus.
Proteus avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Proteus tries to clinch but Kabashi is having none of it.
Kabashi throws a low kick but Proteus avoids it.
Proteus pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Proteus has closed the distance and engaged Kabashi in a clinch.
Proteus misses with a hook from the clinch.

Proteus pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Proteus moves into range and clinches up with Kabashi.
Proteus has Kabashi pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Kabashi manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Proteus lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Proteus missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Proteus tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Proteus is nestled in close to Kabashi, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Kabashi fails with a takedown attempt.
Kabashi connects with a jab.
Proteus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Proteus takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Proteus changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kabashi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kabashi wants to control but Proteus postures up.
Kabashi is breathing heavily.

Proteus stands up and beckons Kabashi to his feet.
Proteus tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kabashi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Proteus somewhat.
Kabashi cracks Proteus with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Proteus blocks a leg kick.
Kabashi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Proteus moves out of range as Kabashi throws a body kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Proteus.
Ilir Kabashi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Proteus.

Kabashi scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Proteus with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Kabashi to score with a decent uppercut.
Ilir Kabashi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Proteus moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Proteus tries to clinch but Kabashi moves away
and Kabashi counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Kabashi lands a two punch combo.

Proteus is rocked!
Kabashi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Proteus is still on wobbly legs! Can Kabashi finish him?
and Kabashi counters with a massive uppercut that badly hurts Proteus! He's just covering up as Kabashi starts to tee off till the referee steps in and stops the fight!
