The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Cruz throws a sloppy head kick and Kusgan moves out of range easily.
De La Cruz throws a leg kick but Kusgan sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Kusgan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with De La Cruz, pushing him back against the cage.
Kusgan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kusgan turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Kusgan goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, De La Cruz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kusgan but great work by De La Cruz.
De La Cruz wants to stand but Kusgan is controlling his arm.
Kusgan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked De La Cruz off and has taken his back!
I would not like to be De La Cruz right now.

De La Cruz is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kusgan gets his way!
