Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Victor Mesa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matthew Dugan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Victor Mesa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matthew Dugan!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mesa will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mesa shoots in looking for a takedown. Dugan tries to sprawl out of it but Mesa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Dugan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mesa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Dugan defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Mesa.

Dugan shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mesa manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Dugan drops back looking for a leg! Mesa is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Mesa manages to kick Dugan off! Dugan jumps back into Mesa's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dugan looking to sit in guard and control but Mesa gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Mesa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dugan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dugan looking for a guillotine here but Mesa defends easily.

Dugan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mesa can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Dugan tries to kick Mesa off but Mesa keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Dugan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mesa is working away from the top position though.
Mesa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dugan keeps working.
Dugan is looking for a sweep. Mesa is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We're going to have a standup here because Victor Mesa wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Mesa counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Dugan thinking.

Dugan gets tackled into the cage by Mesa. Mesa maintains the clinch.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Dugan keeps control of Mesa as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Victor Mesa will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Dugan dives in and grabs Mesa's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mesa pushes down on Dugan's head and hops out.

Mesa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dugan's waist but Dugan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mesa off to one side.

Dugan leaves Mesa with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
