The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Jacobi misses
and Jones Iii counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jacobi's knee momentarily.

Jacobi has taken the fight to the clinch.
Jacobi pushes Jones Iii back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
The referee calls for Jacobi to work.

Jacobi has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Jones Iii regains guard immediately.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Justin Jacobi.

Jacobi throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones Iii was covering up waiting for the punch and Jacobi finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jacobi shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jones Iii defends it nicely.
Jacobi is breathing heavily.

Jacobi moves into range and clinches up with Jones Iii.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones Iii is trying to drag Jacobi to the mat but Jacobi just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Jacobi is stalling here.

Jacobi has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Jones Iii uses from the top position.

Jacobi has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Jones Iii off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jacobi is on top in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Jacobi connects with a couple of short punches.

Jacobi gets to his feet. Jones Iii looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Jones Iii is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jacobi closes the distance and pushes Jones Iii back into the cage.
Jones Iii wants to take the fight to the mat but Jacobi manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jacobi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jacobi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
