Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Perez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Philip Go (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Perez comes to the cage accompanied by It's Goin Down by T.C.. Joshua Perez has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Perez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Philip Go!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Go or perhaps it was just good defense by Perez which made him look bad.
Perez lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Perez lands a jab to Go's midsection.
Go looks winded!

Go rushes Perez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Perez lands a knee to the head.
A body shot lands from Perez.
Knees in the clinch landing for Perez.
Perez comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Perez breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A nice leg kick lands there from Perez.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Perez.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Perez lands a head kick. Go smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Perez explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Perez thumps Go with a low kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Go crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Perez - the referee stops the clock and Go gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Perez. Go manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Perez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Perez chopping away at his opponent's legs.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Go takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
An inside leg kick lands from Perez.
Both fighters circling a little - Perez finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Perez scores with a kick to the body.
Perez connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Perez pushes Go up against the cage in a clinch.
Perez lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Perez lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Perez lands an elbow inside that Go shrugs off.

Perez tightens his grip and picks Go up, before dumping him to the ground. Go manages to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Perez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Perez slips nicely into half guard.

Perez is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Go is just riding it out for now. Perez eventually gives up the hold.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Perez seems to be looking for submissions.

Perez is trying to work for a kimura but Go is defending well.

Perez is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Perez knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Go on the ground.

Perez passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Go!
Perez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Perez gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Perez throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Joshua Perez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Perez forces Go back against the cage and clinches.
A bit of stalling here from Perez.
Perez lands a good knee to the midsection. Go won't want to take too many of those.
Perez lands a right hand that snaps the head of Go backwards.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Perez crunches a lovely knee into Go's ribcage.

Perez has Go pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Perez pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Go tumbling to the mat - Perez dives into Go's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Go looking to control.

Perez drops back looking for a leg! Go is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Go manages to kick Perez off! Perez jumps back into Go's guard.
Perez has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Perez is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Perez drops back looking for a leg! Go is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Go manages to kick Perez off! Perez jumps back into Go's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joshua Perez dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Go darts in and clinches Perez up against the cage.
Knees to the body from Perez.
Perez lands a shoulder strike.
Perez presses Go against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
Perez is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Go can do to turn this around?
Perez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Go gets the underhooks and prevents it.
A knee to the head by Perez.

Perez gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Perez is looking for a kimura here.
Go is breathing heavily.

Perez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Go defend it? Perez steps over the head and cranks it - Go is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Perez!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joshua Perez!
Joshua Perez gave a mention to Alpha-Male Nutritional Supplements (q160) in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
