The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gutz ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Gutz looks to land a combination. Smiths sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like John Smiths has been cut.

Gutz looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Smiths tries to circle away but Gutz has him pinned against the cage.

Smiths's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gutz wants to clinch up but Smiths keeps it at a distance.
Gutz swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Gutz misses the jab.

and Smiths counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Gutz has taken the fight to the clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smiths wants to break free but Gutz has control.
Gutz is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
