PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Di Punker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heidan Warren (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Punker comes to the cage accompanied by Blink-182 - Heart's All Gone. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Di Punker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Heidan Warren!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Punker lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Punker moves into the clinch successfully.
Warren tries to pull guard but Punker won't allow it.
Punker pressing his opponent against the cage.

Warren is fighting off a takedown attempt but Punker is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Warren to the mat. Warren regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Warren looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Punker stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Warren swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Punker has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Warren keeping moving, preventing Punker from controlling successfully.
Warren being controlled here, momentarily.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Punker cracks Warren with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Warren has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Punker can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Warren avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Warren working for a triangle but Punker defends it easily.

Punker avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Punker looking to sit in guard and control but Warren gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Warren thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Punker looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Warren trying to control the position from guard on top but Punker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Warren wants to control from the top but Punker keeps moving.
Warren pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Punker is keeping the position for now.

Punker working for a triangle but Warren defends it easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Warren throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Punker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Warren wants to pass the guard but Punker is keeping the position.

Punker had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Warren defends it easily.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Warren accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Warren trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Warren trying to control but Punker is working from the bottom.
Warren might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Punker haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Warren is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Heidan Warren hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Punker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Warren shoots for a double leg takedown but Punker sprawls well. He's pushed Warren's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Punker stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Punker wants it to stay on the feet.
Di Punker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Heidan Warren.
Punker tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Warren manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Warren misses with a kick to the body

and Punker counters with a takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Punker working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Warren throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Punker is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Warren has escaped the position, nice work there.
Warren wants to control but Punker postures up.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Warren is trying to improve his position.
Punker is looking to take a break and control but Warren is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Warren tries to bench press Punker off him but Punker keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Di Punker dominated that round.
That's time! Punker's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Punker pushes Warren up against the cage in a clinch.
Punker is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Punker lands an elbow just above Warren 's eye.


It looks like Heidan Warren has been cut.
Warren drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Punker wants the takedown. Warren is fighting it off but Punker persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Warren's guard against the cage.
Punker throws a big elbow that misses.

Punker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Warren has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Punker has managed to get both his arms back between Warren's legs - danger averted.

Warren has his foot on Punker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Punker works his way back into a safe position though.

Warren has his foot on Punker's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Punker works his way back into a safe position though.

Punker is looking for a kimura but Warren is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Punker to get the leverage.

Punker throws a right hand that Warren ducks under and follows up with a left that Warren also avoids with ease.
Punker displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Warren.

Punker looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Punker is trying to control the action in half guard but Warren is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Punker passes the guard and advances to mount!
Warren is squirming around, avoiding Punker's attempts to control the action.
Warren tries to hold on but Punker postures up.
Punker fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Warren keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Warren flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Punker looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Punker postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Warren looks a forlorn figure.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Warren has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Punker is working away from the top position though.

Punker landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Punker is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Warren sees it coming and defends easily.

Punker throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Warren is looking for a sweep. Punker is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Punker wants to pass to mount but Warren is defending the position.

Punker is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Warren doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Punker.

Di Punker is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Punker is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Warren defends it well.
Warren has hold of Punker's hands but Punker slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Heidan Warren has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Warren is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Punker's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Punker's back!

And that's the end of the fight!
Di Punker showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Punker has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
