Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Tim Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Peter Taphorn!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Richard Clark and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taphorn misses with a leg kick.
Taphorn throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Smith scores with a jab to the head.
Smith connects with an inside leg kick.
Taphorn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A jab from Taphorn finds it's way through Smith's defenses.
Taphorn throws a wild body kick that Smith sees coming a mile off.
Taphorn misses with a wild body shot.
Smith is looking to score with low kicks.
Taphorn shoots in for a takedown but Smith shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A chopping leg kick lands by Smith.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Smith connects with a leg kick. Taphorn looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Taphorn fails with a takedown attempt.
Tim Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Taphorn.
Taphorn throws an off balance right hand

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Taphorn!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Taphorn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Smith frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Taphorn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Smith takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Smith tries to push Taphorn's head away but Taphorn is holding on tight.
Taphorn gets back to half guard.
Smith wants to control but Taphorn is keeping him busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tim Smith wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Taphorn throws the kick towards the body but Smith avoids it.
Taphorn has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Smith.
Smith lands with a thumping leg kick.
Taphorn misses with a looping left.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Smith, right into the meat.

Smith throws a push kick but Taphorn slaps the foot to one side.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Taphorn sizes up Smith with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Tim Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Taphorn has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Smith.
Taphorn throws a right and a left that both miss.
A nice leg kick lands there from Smith.
Taphorn shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Peter Taphorn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taphorn looks winded!
Smith connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Taphorn's hands.


It looks like Peter Taphorn has been cut.
Smith connects with an inside leg kick.

Smith lands a big head kick that sends Taphorn tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves Taphorn back to his feet - he wants the finish!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Taphorn misses with a hook. Smith ducked under it nicely.
Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Smith throws a low kick but Taphorn avoids it.
Taphorn looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tim Smith dominated that round.

Taphorn tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Smith scoring well with a low kick there.
Taphorn fails to land the takedown.
Taphorn fails with a takedown attempt.
Taphorn thows a body shot but no joy.
Taphorn takes a swing at Smith's ribcage but misses.
Smith fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Taphorn.

Smith lands with a thumping leg kick.

Smith cracks the inside of Taphorn's front leg.
Taphorn's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith lands a big head kick that sends Taphorn tumbling to the mat! Smith takes a step backwards and waves Taphorn back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Smith changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Smith lands a big right hand that sends Taphorn crashing to the mat! Smith stays standing though and waves Taphorn back to his feet!
Taphorn is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
Taphorn walks into a straight right, dropping him to the canvas! Smith swarms him and finishes the fight with a hail of punches! What a brutal finish!
