The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Micheangelo Fripello.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Petterson's guard.
Thomas drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Petterson dives on top into guard.
Thomas looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Thomas looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Thomas is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thomas has an active guard here but Petterson has managed to pass into half guard.
Petterson is looking to take a break and control but Thomas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Petterson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thomas on the ground.

Thomas has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Petterson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Thomas has tightened it up now! Petterson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
