Sobieski comes to the cage accompanied by Kto Cię Obroni Polsko. Mountain is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by kuningas. Jari Mountain has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jan Sobieski!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jari Mountain!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mountain dodges the punch combination from Sobieski.
Sobieski misses with an attempted mid kick.
Mountain takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Good leg kick by Mountain there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Mountain misses with a straight right.
Mountain moves out of range of the body kick from Sobieski.
Mountain throws an overhand right that lands on Sobieski's shoulder, as Sobieski tries to avoid the shot.
Sobieski shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mountain pinned against the cage. Mountain gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mountain scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Sobieski is looking to land body kicks.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mountain throws a chopping leg kick but Sobieski manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Sobieski tries to land a front kick but Mountain steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Mountain lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Donk. Mountain catches Sobieski right on the button with a cross.
Mountain tried to score with a low kick but Sobieski checks it.
A telegraphed right hand from Mountain misses the target.
Sobieski takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Sobieski throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Mountain uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Sobieski.
Mountain lands with an overhand left.

Mountain cracks Sobieski with a right hand to the side of the head.
Mountain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mountain misses with a few strikes there.
A clash of legs there as Sobieski blocks the low kick.
Sobieski throws out a loose jab but Mountain uses good head movement to avoid it.
A telegraphed right hand from Mountain misses the target.
A head kick by Sobieski misses
and Mountain counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Sobieski moves out of range as Mountain strikes.
Mountain connects with a right hand. Sobieski shakes it off.
Sobieski buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Mountain swings and misses with a hook to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mountain looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Mountain misses with a wild body shot.
Sobieski avoids the body shot from Mountain.
Mountain ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mountain moves out of range of the body kick from Sobieski.
Sobieski throws a leg kick but Mountain moved away.
Sloppy strikes from Mountain. Those never looked like landing.
Sobieski throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A punch combination from Mountain misses.
Mountain throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Sobieski stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mountain connects with an inside leg kick.
Mountain misses with an uppercut

and Sobieski counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sobieski.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sobieski trying to control but Mountain is working from the bottom.
Sobieski in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mountain pulls Sobieski in close to his closed guard and prevents Sobieski from doing any damage or advancing position.
Mountain wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mountain is trying to control the position but Sobieski postures up.
Sobieski tries to free his leg and advance position but Mountain is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jari Mountain dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Mountain stuns Sobieski with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Sobieski uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mountain.
Sobieski gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Jari Mountain seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Sobieski shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Mountain manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Mountain looking for a sweep. Not yet Mountain, not yet.
Sobieski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mountain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sobieski loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Sobieski is working Mountain over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Mountain is pulling down on Sobieski's head to control his posture.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sobieski looking to pass the guard.
Sobieski looking to sit in guard and control but Mountain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Sobieski has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Mountain doesn't defend quickly enough and Sobieski has managed to lock this one up! Can Mountain escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Sobieski on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jan Sobieski!
