The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Pain.
Goku drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Pain fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Goku pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pain throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Pain scores with a hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Goku.
Pain gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Goku goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Pain turns into him and now he's in Goku's guard.
Goku lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Pain!

Goku is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

It looks like Lioto Goku has been cut.
Pain lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Pain feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gokus jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Goku is rocked!

Pain successfully pulls guard.
Goku looking to pass the guard.
Goku wants to stand but Pain is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Goku trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Goku would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Goku stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pain swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Goku slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Pain pushes Goku up against the cage in a clinch.

Pain has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Goku uses from the top position.

Goku stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pain swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Silo Pain was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Goku shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pain takes a swing at Goku's ribcage but misses.
Goku takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Pain stuffs the takedown.
Goku takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Pain just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Pain fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Silo Pain dominated that round.

Goku throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pain lands a nice hook to Goku's body. Goku takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Pain tries to clinch there but Goku circles away.
Goku fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Pain with a jab.
Goku has a takedown stuffed.
Lioto Goku is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Pain closes the distance and clinches.

Pain gets control of Goku's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pain will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Goku is pushing down on Pain's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pain is fighting to maintain full guard but Goku has managed to sneak the leg through.

Goku is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pain doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Goku.

Goku is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pain is just riding it out for now. Goku eventually gives up the hold.
Pain is trying to get back to full guard.

Goku is pressing down on Pain's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pain is holding on for now.
Goku is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Goku is looking to stand but Goku has his arms wrapped tightly around him, looking to prevent the damage.
Pain wants to control but Goku is having none of it.
Pain is looking to improve his position but Goku isn't that keen on the idea.
Pain is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Goku swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Pain is now in Goku's guard. A big mistake from Goku there, giving up the dominant position!
Pain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Pain is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Pain trying to control the position from guard on top but Goku is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Silo Pain hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Pain throws a chopping leg kick but Goku manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Pain lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Pain has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Pain swings for the body but Goku moves out of range.
Pain cracks Goku with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Goku looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

A cross from Pain lands.
Pain misses the shot to the body.
Pain fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Pain lands a lovely overhand right.

A looping hook to the body misses from Pain. Goku does a little dance to reset his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

and Pain counters with a left and a right that stings Goku.

Silo Pain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Goku throws a nice outside leg kick.
Pain swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Pain throws a good cross that connects.
Goku shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pain as he jumps to the side.
Goku doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Pain lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Pain scores with a nice head shot.
Pain tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Pain gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Goku to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Goku decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Pain misses the shot to the body.
Goku tries a head kick but it misses.
Pain scores with a jab. Goku acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Goku gets a takedown into half guard.
Pain is looking to improve his position.
Pain regains full guard. Nicely done.
Goku tries to free his leg and advance position but Pain is retaining full guard.

Pain pulls Goku in close to prevent any damage.
Goku wants to pass the guard but Pain is keeping the position.
Pain is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Goku passes Pain's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Goku is looking to advance position but Pain won't allow it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Pain pushes Goku off and gets back to his feet.
Pain jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
A slapping leg kick lands for Goku.

Pain fails with a takedown attempt.
Pain throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Goku shoots for a takedown but Pain saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Goku takes one to the chin there.
Pain fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Goku looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Pain circles away from the clinch attempt.
Lioto Goku has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Pain avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pain scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Goku uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pain.
Pain looks to land a right hand but Goku moved out of range.
Goku throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Silo Pain is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Nice body punch from Pain.
Pain wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Pain moves in looking to clinch but Goku pushes him off.
Pain keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lioto Goku. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Goku has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Pain finds it's way round the side to connect with Goku's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
