Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sterling Michetti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Truman Ivey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sterling Michetti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Truman Ivey!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ivey closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ivey lands in his opponent's guard.
Ivey stays in close to Michetti's body and controls the position.
Ivey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Michetti swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ivey landing some decent shots from guard.
Ivey slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Ivey working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Michetti's head.
Ivey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Michetti is trying to keep Ivey in close.

Ivey controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Michetti misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ivey shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

Ivey scores with a takedown into Michetti's guard.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Truman Ivey.

Ivey has managed to clinch.

Ivey decides to pull guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Michetti is looking to stand up but Ivey won't let him.
Ivey throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Ivey has a closed guard, preventing Michetti from standing up.
Michetti has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Michetti is breathing heavily.

Ivey wants to stand up but Michetti is controlling him.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Ivey is pulling down on Michetti's head to control his posture.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Truman Ivey hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
A head kick misses from Ivey.
Michetti throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ivey has closed the distance and engaged Michetti in a clinch.

Michetti is trying to break the clinch but Ivey is controlling him.
Ivey is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Michetti pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Ivey has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Michetti avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Sterling Michetti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Truman Ivey.
Michetti wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ivey is working for takedown but Michetti is calmly controlling the position for now.
Michetti misses with a hook to the ribs.
Ivey jumps guard but Michetti stands there with Ivey around his waist. Ivey gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Truman Ivey dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ivey tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Michetti manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ivey is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Michetti's half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ivey connects with a nice short shot to Michetti's temple.

Truman Ivey has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Ivey fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Michetti sprawls well initially but Ivey persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ivey is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ivey is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Ivey lands a heavy elbow.
Ivey tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ivey connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Truman Ivey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Ivey throws a sloppy head kick and Michetti moves out of range easily.
Michetti circles away from the clinch attempt.

Ivey shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ivey was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ivey slows the pace down.
Ivey advances to full mount.
Ivey controlling his opponent.
Ivey has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Michetti really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Michetti can't escape the position.
Ivey looking to control and managing it successfully.

Ivey lands a big shot there that rocks Michetti but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Ivey is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Michetti is wriggling around trying to escape.

Ivey postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Michetti looks a forlorn figure.

Let's hope that Ivey has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Truman Ivey has got the better of the ground game so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
