PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tyrone Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Marston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyrone Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Marston!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Bruno Lombardi and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marston throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Marston shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Marston controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marston tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Jackson.
Marston with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by John Marston.
Jackson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marston pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jackson scores with a nice head shot.
Marston tries to clinch there but Jackson circles away.
Jackson throws a combination. Marston tries to block but a couple of punches get through.


It looks like John Marston has been cut.
Jackson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Marston drives through with a takedown into guard.
Marston engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Marston wants to stand but Jackson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Marston works over Jackson with some ground and pound from guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Marston has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jackson is proving hard to escape from.
Marston forces his way into half guard.
Marston passes the guard and advances to mount!
Marston takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Jackson wants to get back to his feet.
Marston content just to control the position here.

Marston controlling the pace for now.
Marston in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Marston lands a couple of good shots and Jackson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Marston dominated that round.
The cut man is working on John Marston's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Marston fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jackson avoids it really well and circles away.

Marston closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jackson to the mat! Jackson manages to get full guard.
Marston postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Marston works over Jackson with some ground and pound from guard.
Marston in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Marston chips away with some ground and pound.
Marston wants to stand but Jackson is controlling his posture from full guard.
Marston trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marston is pushing down on Jackson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Marston has managed to sneak the leg through.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Marston on the ground.
Marston passes to full mount!
Marston takes Jackson's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Jackson is in trouble.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Marston lands a shot to the body.

Jackson is trying to defend against the choke here but Marston has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Marston Tightens the hold and Jackson taps out furiously! Marston displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). John Marston!
