Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonah Sumrall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jan Nowak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sumrall's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Kutless - Smile. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jonah Sumrall!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jan Nowak!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nowak rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Sumrall counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Nowak fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Sumrall takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Nowak thows a body shot but no joy.
Sumrall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sumrall wants it to stay on the feet.
Nowak swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Sumrall counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Jan Nowak has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nowak misses with a body shot.
Nowak looks to land a left hand but Sumrall moved out of range nicely.

Nowak decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Nowak trying to control from Sumrall's half guard. Sumrall has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nowak with a flurry of punches that miss.
Sumrall is trying to control the position but Nowak postures up.
Nowak postures up in Sumrall's guard and throws a big left but Sumrall blocks it.
Nowak slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Nowak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sumrall swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sumrall avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Nowak throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Sumrall preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sumrall keeping moving, preventing Nowak from controlling successfully.
Nowak preventing the sweep.
Nowak has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Nowak trying to control the position from guard on top but Sumrall is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nowak in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Nowak throwing strikes but missing.
Nowak throws an elbow that misses. Sumrall uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Nowak's guard. Nice move by Sumrall!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jonah Sumrall wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Nowak just misses with a punch to the body.
Sumrall moves out of range as Nowak strikes.
Nowak misses the body punch
and Sumrall counters with a big head kick but Nowak shrugs it off.
Donk. Nowak catches Sumrall right on the button with a cross.
Sumrall ducks under a wild hook from Nowak.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Nice sprawl there from Sumrall as Nowak shoots in.
Jonah Sumrall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Nowak.
Nowak thows a left - swing and a miss!
Nowak closes the distance and clinches up with Sumrall, looking for a takedown. Nowak pushes Sumrall against the cage but Sumrall circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Nowak throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nowak scores with a jab. Sumrall acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Nowak changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sumrall tries to avoid it but Nowak manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sumrall to the ground. Sumrall escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sumrall dodges the punch combination from Nowak.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nowak misses the body punch
and Sumrall counters with a head kick. That will keep Nowak thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Nowak has his takedown stuffed
and Sumrall connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jan Nowak will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Jan Nowak's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nowak closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sumrall circles away.
Nowak throws a shot from downtown. Sumrall moves away and avoids it.
Nowak with a lazy takedown attempt
and Sumrall counters with a head kick that crumples his opponent - he's in a world of trouble! Sumrall looks at the referee who does nothing so Sumrall lands a crushing right that sends Nowak to the floor! This time the ref steps in to end the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jonah Sumrall!
