PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dana Liddel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Drew Price (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Drew Price was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dana Liddel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drew Price!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddel fails with the takedown.

Liddel will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Price scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Liddel swats away the attempt to clinch by Price.
Liddel throws a hook to the side of Price's head but Price sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Price looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

and Liddel counters with a single leg into guard. Price didn't expect that.

Price has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Liddel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Liddel throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Price works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Price preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Liddelis looking to pass into half guard but Price pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Price is in guard.
Price wants to control from the top but Liddel keeps moving.
Price wants to stand but Liddel has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Price would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Liddel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Price counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Price goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Price fails with an attempt to clinch.
Price tries to close the distance and clinch but Liddel swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Price gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Liddel counters with a nice double leg into side control. Price won't be happy with that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Price prevents Liddel from improving position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Price gets back to half guard.
Price regains full guard. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Drew Price dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Price shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Price showed some decent athleticism there.
Price stalling.
Price is looking to take a break and control but Liddel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Liddel missing with punches from the bottom.
Liddel wants to improve his position but Price is controlling well.
Liddel is staying active underneath Price, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Price is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Liddel has managed to free his arm - good work.

Price is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Liddel tries to roll over but Price keeps him under control.
Price thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Liddel's head.

Price is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Liddel defends it well.
Liddel punching from the bottom.
Price throwing shots but Liddel is blocking nicely.
Liddel tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Price has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Price takes Liddel's back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Liddel tries to roll but Price sticks to his back.
Price tries to get the hooks in deep but Liddel pushed the leg off.
Liddel tries to escape but Price has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Price working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Liddel is doing well to defend. Price seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Liddel is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Drew Price!
