PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Stout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karelin gets a clinch.

Stout manages to break the clinch.

Karelin has closed the distance and engaged Stout in a clinch.
Karelin pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Stout can't break the clinch.
Karelin throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Karelin has Stout pressed against the cage, preventing Stout from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Stout tries to break the clinch but Karelin is controlling the position.
Stout avoids a wild elbow strike from Karelin.
Karelin gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

It looks like Brad Stout has been cut.

Stout's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Karelin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stout paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Stout misses the jab.
Karelin tries to clinch but Stout is having none of it.

Karelin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Stout manages to break the clinch.
Stout fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Karelin looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Karelin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Karelin is looking to clinch.
Karelin showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Stout.
Karelin tries to clinch but Stout is having none of it.
Karelin walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It looks like Alexander Karelin has been cut.
Stout throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Stout looks to throw the jab but Karelin is out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stout lands with a shot to the body.
Stout scores with a crisp jab that stopped Karelin in his tracks.
Stout misses with a hook. Karelin ducked under it nicely.
Stout lands a nice shot to the body.
Stout lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Karelin at a distance.
Karelin is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stout feints a jab promting Karelin to slip. Stout then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Karelin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Stout connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Karelin! He's out on his feet! Stout rushes in and drops Karelin with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Brad Stout!
A relieved looking Brad Stout thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
