Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dane Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pete Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pete Gordon has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Dane Kane's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kane darts in and clinches Gordon up against the cage.
Kane is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gordon pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Gordon wants to take the fight to the mat but Kane manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Kane tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Gordon tries to break free but Kane pushes him back against the cage.

Kane tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Gordon's elbow.
Gordon tries to circle away but Kane has him pinned against the cage.
Gordon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kane.

Kane breaks the clinch.
Kane shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Gordon as he jumps to the side.

Gordon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kane tries to free his leg and advance position but Gordon is retaining full guard.

It looks like Dane Kane has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kane looks for a takedown but Gordon sprawls well.
Kane closes the distance and clinches up with Gordon, looking for a takedown. Kane pushes Gordon against the cage but Gordon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

No joy there for Gordon, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kane breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kane looks for a takedown but Gordon sprawls well.

Gordon gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kane wants to stand but Gordon has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Kane stops Gordon from standing up.

Kane slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Gordon wants to stand but Kane is controlling the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Dane Kane wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Gordon fails with an attempt to clinch.
Gordon moves in looking to clinch but Kane pushes him off.
Kane changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Gordon tries to avoid it but Kane manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Gordon to the ground. Gordon escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kane misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kane shoots for a takedown but Gordon saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kane closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kane will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Gordon has eaten all the pies!

That was a close round but I would say that Dane Kane will probably get the nod.

That's time! Kane's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Kane tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gordon swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Dane Kane overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Kane stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gordon can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gordon is looking for a sweep. Kane is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Kane lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
It looks like Kane is going to stand back up.
Kane looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Dane Kane has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kane.

Gordon is looking to escape.
Kane passes the guard and advances to mount!
Gordon tries to lock up and control but Kane gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gordon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Kane.

Gordon is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kane gets his way!
