PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drew Schilling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tinker Bell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drew Schilling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tinker Bell!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schilling changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bell tries to avoid it but Schilling manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bell to the ground. Bell escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bell swings widly with a right hand
and Schilling counters with a stiff right hand.
Schilling tries to close the distance and clinch but Bell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Schilling.
Schilling walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
A swing and a miss from Schilling.

Bell manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Schilling on his heels. He'll look to pass Schilling's guard now, I'm sure.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Schilling wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Bell tries to free his leg and advance position but Schilling is retaining full guard.

Schilling wants to stand and escape but Bell is having none of it.

Schilling utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Bell slips nicely into half guard.
Bell landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Bell is trying to control the action in half guard but Schilling is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bell seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Bell is nestled in close to Schilling, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Bell wants to free his trapped foot but Schilling is holding on for dear life with his legs.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bell looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Schilling with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Bell thows a huge punch but Schilling dodges it nicely.

Schilling kicks Bell off and gets to his feet.

Bell forces Schilling back against the cage and clinches.
Bell goes for a takedown attempt but Schilling pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Bell thuds a left hand into Schilling's body.
Bell rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Schilling counters with a stiff right hand.
Bell throws a hook but Schilling avoids it easily.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bell is defended easily by Schilling.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Schilling moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tinker Bell dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Bell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bell shoots in but Schilling avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Bell throws a good cross that connects.
Bell throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Schilling sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Bell tries to clinch up
and Schilling counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Bell doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Schilling counters with a nice body shot.

Schilling keeps the fight on the outside.

Bell closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Schilling quickly recovers to half guard.
Schilling keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Schilling pushes Bell off and gets back to his feet.
Bell rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Schilling cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Schilling throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Bell stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Schilling fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bell sprawls well initially but Schilling persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Bell is looking to control Schilling's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Bell avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Schilling throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Schilling takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Schilling missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

Schilling thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bell's head.

Schilling is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Bell manages to get to full guard.

Tinker Bell has got the better of the ground game so far.

Schilling keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bell's head.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Bell thows a body shot but no joy.
Bell throws a hook to the side of Schilling's head but Schilling sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
No luck for Schilling with that takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bell stuffs the takedown.
Schilling lands with an uppercut that bounces Bell off the cage and back into range.
Schilling dives in and grabs Bell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Bell pushes down on Schilling's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drew Schilling. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Schilling tries to clinch but Bell is having none of it.
Bell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Schilling pinned against the cage. Schilling gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Schilling manages to avoid it.
No luck for Bell with that takedown attempt.

Schilling misses with a takedown attempt - Bell sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Schilling leaves Bell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Bell looks to land a left hand but Schilling moved out of range nicely.
Schilling cracks Bell with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Bell shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Schilling napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bell wants to take a breather but Schilling manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Bell.
Bell is looking to work some ground and pound but Schilling has wrist control.

Bell throws a strike but Schilling rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Schilling not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Schilling is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bell is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bell has escaped and now he's on top!
Schilling on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Schilling tries to get out of the position.

Tinker Bell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bell has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
