Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fred Durst (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Springs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Durst's entrance music is Hot Dog. A fine choice. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Durst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sam Springs!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Springs throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Durst counters with a series of strikes. Springs will be more careful next time no doubt.
Springs moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Springs changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Durst tries to avoid it but Springs manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Durst to the ground. Durst escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Springs throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Springs fails to land with a series of punches.
Springs throws a series of punches but Durst avoids them all with ease.
Springs throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Springs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Durst sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Springs somewhat.
Springs tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Durst swivels and escapes.
Fred Durst has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Springs.
Durst steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Springs.
Durst stuffs the takedown attempt from Springs. Springs gets slowly back to his feet.

Springs rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Durst moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Springs wants to clinch
and Springs takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Springs swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Springs gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Durst to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Springs keeping moving, preventing Durst from controlling successfully.
Durst trying to stand up but can't free himself from Springs's guard.

Durst drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Durst jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Durst drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Durst jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Durst tries to stand but Springs is controlling from the bottom.
Springs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Durst. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Springs can do anything to dispel that myth.

Durst wanted to stand there but Springs had control of the position.

Durst thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Springs wants to stand and escape but Durst is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Durst shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Durst looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Springs with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Durst looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Durst thows a huge punch but Springs dodges it nicely.
Durst is nestled in close to Springs, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Durst landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Durst throwing shots but Springs is blocking nicely.

No joy there for Springs, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Fred Durst is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Springs feints and then cracks Durst's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Durst down.

Durst lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Springs circles away quickly and effectively.
Sam Springs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Durst lands a left and a right that send Springs crashing to the mat, dazed. Durst thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Durst is going to stand back up.

Durst is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Durst lands a nice short elbow.
Durst has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Durst is keen to just control but Springs is a slippery customer.
Durst looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Springs with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Durst is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Springs!

Fred Durst overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Durst slips under a jab.
Durst will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Durst drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Durst wants to stand but Springs has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Durst lands a couple of decent looking shots.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Springs wants to stand up but Durst is controlling him.
Durst stands up over Springs, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Fred Durst showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Durst has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
