PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yoshihiro Imanari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Fry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Yoshihiro Imanari has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Yoshihiro Imanari seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Yoshihiro Imanari!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Fry!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Fedor Mirinova and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Imanari moves in looking to clinch but Fry pushes him off.
Imanari uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Fry.
Imanari shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fry but Fry pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Imanari counters with a nice double leg into side control. Fry won't be happy with that.
Imanari wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fry keeps working.

Imanari has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Imanari is defended easily by Fry.

Imanari is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Fry dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Imanari. That did some damage!

Fry moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Fry throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fry tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Imanari was well out of range. Poor timing from Fry.
Imanari is looking to clinch but Fry is avoiding it.
Horrible takedown by Imanari or perhaps it was just good defense by Fry which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshihiro Imanari. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This has been an exciting period of action!

and Fry counters with a nice low kick that buckles Imanari's knee momentarily.

A head kick from Fry lands but Imanari takes it in his stride.

Imanari just misses with a punch to the body.
Fry throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Fry lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Imanari has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Imanari and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Fry really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Imanari. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Imanari seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Fry is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
